The Families First Coronavirus Response Act (FFCRA) expired on 12/31/2020. Districts should now use the COVID-19 HRA (Human Resources Approved) absence name or code for entering all COVID-19 absences beginning on 01/01/2021. The COVID-19 HRA only captures the hours an employee is unable to work because of COVID-19. Those "take" hours are tracked from July 1st through June 30th. The COVID19 HRA absence hours do not generate payroll earnings nor are they deducted from any of the employee's other leave balances. The existing Reason Codes configured for the COVID19 HRA absence can be used for any COVID-19 absence. For example, the "Care for family member" and "Childcare due to school closure" Reason Codes can be used for what was a COVID19 FML absence before 01/01/2021, and "Self-isolation due to exposure" can be used for what was a COVID19 MED absence. |
