Absence requests that return an “already exists” error need to be deleted from the Absence Event screen before they can be entered

For districts using PeopleSoft Absence Management

A COBOL error caused some absences to only get partially created, in other words all of the pieces of the absence did not get created in the system due to the COBOL error. If you (or an employee who uses PeopleSoft Employee Self-Service to enter an absence) see an “already exists” error when attempting to enter an absence request, the only fix is to delete the original, partial absence using the Absence Event screen (Main Menu > Global Payroll & Absence Mgmt > Payee Data > Maintain Absences > Absence Event).

Examples:
  • Staff members who enter absences on behalf of an employee in Absence Management, for example using the Timesheet screen, will see the absence in “Saved” status but there will be no values or information found for the absence’s Forecast Results such as Forecast Value and Forecast Details.

  • Employee who uses PeopleSoft ESS: “My request for vacation won’t go through and it tells me I already have made that request, yet I have not.”
